Local Teams fall on Friday Night

The Yorkton Terriers started off their final multiple game roady of the regular season on a losing note, a 3-2 decision to the Battlefords North Stars.

The Terriers would come out with a very solid road opening period and they would get rewarded for their efforts with only goal in the first frame as Adam Santoro would send it on net and Kailum Gervais would deflect home his 6th of the season to give the visitors a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes. Shots 12-7 Yorkton after 1.

In the 2nd period, the North Stars would kinda find their legs as they did get a couple power plays  and sent a lot of rubber the way of the Terrier net but they would not able to get the equalizer in the middle period as the Terriers held on to their 1 goal at 1-0 after 2 periods. Shots after 40 minutes for the North Stars was 16-14.

The North Stars would break through in the 3rd as they would score all of their goals in the final frame as Layne Young would tie things up at 1-1 just 1:19 in with his 22nd of the season. Coby Downs would give the Stars their first lead as he would notch home his 26th of the year to make it 2-1. Reed Delainey, a short time later would get his 13th to make it a 3-1 lead for the top ranked North Stars. Corwin Stevely would get the Terriers within 1 as he would take a nice feed in front from Gervais & hammer home his 13th to make it a 3-2 game but thats as close as the Terriers would get as the North Stars would get their 37th win of the season, 3-2.

Tyler Fuhr got his 18th win of the season making 20 saves on 32 shots while Jakob Severson with once again another solid performance making 29 saves in the loss.

The Terriers will try and get that single point on Saturday to clinch that playoff spot when they visit the Kindersley Klippers. Puck drop is at 7:30.

Elsewhere in the SJHL,

The Melville Millionaires couldn't gain any ground on their Highway 10 rivals as they for the 2nd time in less than a week lost to the Weyburn Red Wings, this time 5-1.
