Mils; Terriers both fall in Friday Night SJHL Action

The Melville Millionaires dropped their 2nd to last road game of the season 4-2 to the Humboldt Broncos at the Elgar Petersen Arena.

The Mils after a shaky 1st half of opening period, they would take control in the 2nd half as Drew Litwin would knock home his 1st of the season to give the Mils an early 1-0 lead. The Mils would add to their lead as Cole Filler would walk across the Broncos' blue line and go bar down on Carter Semenuk for his 14th of the year that gave the Mils a 2 goal lead at 2-0 after 20 minutes. Shots were 14-10 Mils after 1 period.

The Broncos would grab a little confidence very early into the 2nd period as Daniel Mckitrick would get sprung on a breakaway & make no mistake slipping it through the five-hole of Brandon Wells for his 22nd of the season to make it 2-1. Then the Broncos would draw even just 37 seconds later as 19 year old Trevor Posch would hammer home his 14th of the year to knot things up at 2-2 after 2 periods. Broncos had a slight edge in shot column after 40 minutes at 22-21.

The Broncos would grab their first lead of the night 4 minutes into the 3rd as Chris Van-Os Shaw would jam home his 15th of the season to give them a 3-2 lead. Trevor Posch would add some insurance late in the period, his 2nd of the night and 15th of the season help Humboldt win their 15th game of the season a 4-2 decision over the Millionaires.

Bronco netminder Carter Semenuk made 28 saves for the win in goal while Mils' goalie Brandon Wells made 29 saves in the losing cause.

The Mils go right back at it on Saturday night when they host the Melfort Mustangs at 7:30 from the Horizon Credit Union Center.


Also in the SJHL in Yorkton,

The Terriers gave up a late 4-3 lead and then fell in overtime to hose very same Melfort Mustangs 5-4 at the Farrell Agencies Arena.

Tyler Baier led the way for the Terriers with 2 goals while Jordan McCausland, and Adam Santoro also chipped in with markers for Yorkton. Co-Captain Kailum Gervais chipped in with 3 assists.

Jakob Severson took the loss in goal for the Terriers making 24 saves.

The Terriers are back on home ice on Tuesday night when they host the Notre Dame Hounds.
