Boehm helps the Terriers conqueor the Kings to win first game of WCC

The Yorkton Terriers in a wild one got on the board at the Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup with a 8-6 win over the Dauphin Kings on Sunday night.

It was a different start to the hockey game for the Yorkton Terriers as they showed why they were Canalta Cup champions with a very good start to the openong, they were moving their feet, taking the body and getting pucks on net unlike one night ago. Just 8:05 in, AP Call-Up Corwin Stevely who was making his WCC debut got his 1st of the tournament just letting a snap shot go and it beat Michael Stilladis over the blocker to make it an early Terriers 1-0 lead. Tayler Thompson would give the Terriers a 2-0 lead just 2:25 later, when he would bury a rebound past the Kings net minder for his 1st of the WCC.  The Kings wouldn't go away though and they would get one on the board before the period expired as Dylan Butler would walk out from below the goal line and feed Chandler Irvin backdoor for the Kings dman's 1st of the tournament to cut Dauphin's deficit in half to a 2-1 Terrier lead , after a very 20 minutes for the home side.

After only 3 goals in the opening frame, the teams combined for a total of 9 goals in the 2nd period. Riley Hunt started off the party with 2nd power play goal of the tournament finishing off a nice passing play by Tayler Thompson to make it a 3-1 Terrier lead. The Terriers would get their first 3 goal lead of the night as Brett Boehm would get his first goal of the WCC to make it 4-1. The Kings thought wouldn't go away as former Weyburn Red Wing Ryan Cooper's long point shot would get through a crowd and beat Kale Thomson to make it a 4-2 Terrier lead. Boehm would continue his hot 2nd period and get the Terrier back in front by 3 using that good wrist shot of his, to get it past Stilliadis for his 2nd to make it 5-2 Terriers. But discipline would come back to bite the Terriers, as the Kings would get another power play goal this time it was Tanner Lomsnes on the doorstep getting his 1st to make it 5-3. Terriers would get the momentum back with a late goal just 27 seconds left in the middle frame as Boehm would complete the hat trick to make it a 6-3 Yorkton lead after 2 periods.

The Kings would start the 3rd period with another powerplay which was dominate for them on the night, as Tanner Butler would get his 3rd goal of the tournament to cut the Terriers lead to just 6-4. The Kings would creep up to only a 1 goal deficit just 28 seconds later former Flin Flon Bomber Dillion McCombie would get his 1st of the tourney to cut the lead to 6-5. Kailum Gervais would regain the Terriers 2 goal lead as he would get his first goal of the WCC finishing off a nice passing play from Brett Boehm to put the Terriers back up at 7-5. Tanner Lomsnes and the Kings would not go away though as the 19 year old Kings forward would get his 2nd of the night to make the Terriers lead only sit at 7-6. But in the final minute it would be Gervais icing it into the empty net for his 2nd of the night to push it to a 8-6 Terrier victory.

Terrier net minder Kale Thomson who returned to the Terrier crease stopped 20 shots for the win while Kings goalie Michael Stilliadis made 33 saves in a losing cause.
