Terriers complete the repeat; capture 2013/14 Canalta Cup Title

(Peter Baran Photography)

The Yorkton Terriers after a dominating effort capped off with a 4-0 win in Game 4,the Terriers repeated as Canalta Cup champions with a win over the Melville Millionaires to win the Best of 7 Series 4 games to none.

In a first period where it was even for the first half and then dominated in the 2nd half by the Yorkton Terriers with them leading in the shot department 12-7 after a scoreless first period.

The Melville Millionaires would come out in the 2nd, and play their best period of the series, they had chance after chance but just couldn't beat Terriers' netminder Kale Thomson. Then with just 3:37 left in the middle frame is where it would all change, Kailum Gervais would come on a partial break and deke around netminder Isaiah Plett and slip it into the back of the net for his 5th of the playoffs to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead, but in the process the Mils goalie would hit an edge suffer an injury and would have to leave for the rest of the game. That brings in Richard Palmer, and just 1:41 after that first Terriers goal they would add another one as Dylan Baer would beat Palmer five hole for his 1st of the playoffs to give the Terriers a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes.

The Terriers would then add two more in the 3rd period, off the sticks of Tyler Giebel and Brett Boehm to push the Terriers to a 4-0 win in Game 4, and a 2013/14 SJHL Banner.

Kale Thomson stopped 22 shots for the shutout, his 12th win of the playoffs, while Isaiah Plett stopped 17 of 18 before getting injured then was relieved by Richard Palmer who let in all 3 shots he faced.

**Terriers defenseman and SJHL Dman of the Year Chase Norrish was named the SJHL Playoff MVP after compiling 7 goals and 8 assists for 15 points in this postseason.
