Friday/Saturday Local Jr. A Recap

The Melville Millionaires played a couple games over the weekend.

On Friday night,  Riley Higdon made 24 saves for his 1st SJHL shutout while Notre Dame scored 4 3rd period goals to lead the Hounds to a 5-0 win over the Millionaires.

Nick Rein, Adam Dawe, Riley Mohr, Colby Brandt and Brandon Sookro scored for the Hounds.

Then on Saturday night, Dayton Heino scored the overtime winner 33 seconds into the extra period as Melville for the 2nd time in the week beat the Kindersley Klippers, this time by 3-2 score.

Aaron Aragon and Alex Maticic also scored for the Mils while Colby Entz made 55 saves on 57 shots in the Mils' goal.

The Mils with 1 game in hand, sit 6 points back of the Melfort Mustangs for the final playoff spot in the SJHL standings.

The Mils are back in action on Tuesday night when they visit the Estevan Bruins at Affinity Place for 7PM face-off.

The Yorkton Terriers now have points in 4 straight games after a 5-4 OT loss on Friday night to the Kindersley Klippers.

Holden Daley had the OT winner for the Klippers 1:46 into the overtime period to earn the extra point.

Dakota Odgers, Evan Werle, Jared Legien and Tyler Baier scored for the Terriers while Nathan Hargrave stopped 44 shots against his former team.

The Terriers have 53 points, currently in a tie for 6th in the standings.

The Terriers are in action on Family Day Monday when they visit the Weyburn Red Wings at 3PM from Crescent Point Place.

The Swan Valley Stampeders got a point on Friday night but they lost in the shootout, 4-3 to the visiting Neepawa Natives.

Josh Sielsky had the shootout winner for Neepawa while Justin Metcalf, Ashton Anderson, and Zach Johnson scored for the visitors.

Keaton Jameson, Connor Navrot and Tanner Koroscil scored for the Stampeders.

Swan who still has a 4 point lead on Neepawa for the final playoff spot are back in action on Tuesday night when they visit the Wayway Wolverines. GX94 will broadcast the game with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey, pregame 7:20 pxp at 7:30.

The Wayway Wolverines dropped both of their games over the weekend against the OCN Blizzard.

The Wolverines lost 6-2 on Friday night they fell 7-0 on Saturday night.

Adam Withers and Brendan Martin scored the goals for Wayway on Friday.

Former Yorkton Terrier Matt Kustra earned a 46 save shutout for his 1st shutout for the Blizzard on Saturday
