The Yorkton Terriers won the 7th Highway 10 battle of the season on Friday night as they slipped by the Melville Millionaires 3-1 at the Horizon Credit Union Center.
After a scoreless 1st period, Jared Legien (pictured above) would give the Terriers a 1-0 lead 10:25 into the 2nd as he would go top shelf on Colby Entz for his 22nd of the season to give the visitors an early lead. Legien would do it again just 2:27 later as he would sneak it through the short side of Entz for his 2nd of the night and 23rd of the season to make it a 2 goal lead. Shane Sherban would add onto the lead with just under a minute to go in the middle frame as he would sneak home his 7th of the campaign to make it a 3-0 Terrier lead after 40 minutes.
The Mils would add one early in the 3rd as Eric Soar would put home his 3rd of the season on the PP for Melville but thats as close as they would get as the Terriers would hold on for the 2 goal win.
20 year old Nathan Hargave made 22 saves on 23 shots for his 20th win of the season in the Terrier net while 18 year old Colby Entz in the Mils net made 24 saves in the loss.
The two teams would go right back at it on Saturday night for the 8th meeting of the season this time it will be played in Yorkton at the Farrell Agencies Arena. Puck drop will be at 7:30.
Meanwhile in the MJHL,
The Swan Valley Stampeders had their 3 game winning streak snapped on home ice on Friday, losing 8-4 to the Selkirk Steelers.
Nathan Halvorsen had a 5 point night (3G 2A) to lead the Steelers while Trevar Mann, Keaton Jameson, Cody Ellingson and Jaden Townsend scored the Stampeder goals.
Brett Evans also had his personal 3 game win streak snapped as he made 23 saves in the losing cause for the Stamps.
Swan will be back in action on Sunday night on the road as they take on the first-place Steinbach Pistons at 7PM.
