Wayway wins; Swan Valley loses in MJHL Wednesday Local Recap

The Swan Valley Stampeders lose their 5th straight dropping a 7-3 decision to the first-place Steinbach Pistons on Wednesday night from the Centennial Arena in Swan River.

The Stamps would get off to a hot start as Keaton Jameson would jam home his 14th of the season just 24 seconds in to give Swan an early 1-0 lead. But the high-powered Pistons offence would come back in bunch as they would score 3 unanswered goals just 2:23 apart. First off MacKenzie would slip home his team leading 29th of the season to make it 1-1. Then it would be Regina Pat prospect Riley Bruce taking a nice feed back-door and he slipped home his 1st MJHL goal to give Steinbach their first lead at 2-1 2:42 in. The Pistons would though add to their just 1:16 later as Bradley Schoonbaert would finish off a nice passing play and snipe home his 23rd of the year to give the visitors a 3-1 lead after 1 period with shots favoring the Pistons at 14-9 after 20 minutes.

After a 4 goal total period, there will be 2 scored in the 2nd both coming from the Pistons. Jordan Bochinski would get the first one 8:19 into for his 16th of the season to make it 4-1. Then just 3:07 later it would be Will Koop with a nice writer over the left shoulder of Connor Slipp for his 17th to make it 5-1 Pistons after 40 minutes.

The Stamps would come out with another good start to a period as 4:45 into the 3rd, Boedy Vaeth would bang in his 5th of the season to make it 5-2. Then just a short time later, it would be Connor Navrot driving hard to the net and sneaking one through Roman Bengert for his team-leading 16th of the season to make it a two goal game at 5-3. But the Pistons would come back and add some insurance as Ryan Carlson and Riley Bruce would add goals 1:21 apart to seal the deal for the Pistons who won their 7th game in a row.

20 year old Roman Bengert made 28 saves on 31 saves to get his league leading 29th win of the season while fellow 20 year old Connor Slipp turned aside 24 shots in the losing cause.

The Stamps return back to ice when they start a 2 game weekend road trip on Friday night in Winkler against the Flyers.
