Millionaires drop Friday road decision in North Battleford

MILLIONAIRES 3, NORTH STARS 6

The Melville Millionaires dropped their 2nd straight to start the season on Friday, falling 6-3 on the road to the undefeated Battlefords North Stars.

The Stars and Millionaires exchanged goals in the 1st and 2nd period respectively as Colby Bear opened the scoring in the first for Battlefords, while Zach Cain replied back in the final seconds of the 2nd period to even it 1-1 through 40 minutes.

Noah Wills gave the Mils their first lead of the night just 86 seconds into the 3rd as his wrister snuck past Josh Kotai for his 1st of the season.

But the North Stars came back with four unanswered including two on the powerplay from Tynan Ewert and Keiton Klein to push their lead to three.

Ashton Boschmann’s 1st SJHL goal pulled the Moneymen within two but Jake Southgate’s empty netter iced it home in the final minute.

Josh Kotai made 26 saves on 29 shots in the North Stars crease for his 4th straight W, while Jared Thompson made 34 saves in the loss for Melville
