Sept. 6th Local SJHL/MJHL Preseason Recap

 WOLVERINES 3, TERRIERS 6 

The Yorkton Terriers got their first win of the preseason on Tuesday night, doubling up the Waywayseecappo Wolverines 6-3 at the Westland Arena. 

Ty Olsen led the way for the Terriers with 2 goals, while Clay Sleeva, Jackson McDonnell, Colton Koran and Dylan Ruptash chipped in with singles. 

Tim Kim and Boone Mathison replied for the Wolverines, who got 24 stops from former Terrier Tresor Wotton in the loss.

Sean Norum (9 saves on 12 shots) and Caleb Allen (18 saves on 18 shots) split the goaltending duties for the Terriers in the win. 

The Terriers' return to action on Wednesday hosting the Melville Millionaires, while the Wolverines take on the Estevan Bruins in Ochapowace tonight (Wed). 


LUMBERJACKS 2, MILLIONAIRES 5 

Nicolas Samson and Brayden Fryfogle each scored twice for Melville as the Millionaires won their 4th straight preseason game, beating the SIJHL's Wisconsin Lumberjacks 5-2 at the HCUC. 

Carter McKay also scored while also adding 2 assists for a 3 point night for Melville, who got 27 saves from Jared Thompson in the win. 


KINGS 1, STAMPEDERS 2 (OT) 

Amar Power scored 81 seconds into overtime on the powerplay to lead the Swan Valley Stampeders to a 2-1 preseason over the Dauphin Kings in Swan River. 

Deepkaran Hans also scored for the Stamps, while Ethan Williment replied for the Kings.

The Stampeders return to action on Thursday night visiting the Melville Millionaires at the HCUC.
