(Statement from the Yorkton Cardinals)
The Yorkton Cardinals are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of our long time manager and head coach Bill Sobkow.
Bill played a major part in bringing the WMBL to Yorkton and starting the franchise. Bill was a caring man who treated every player on his teams like one of his own, always making sure they were happy and comfortable in Yorkton, while always keeping his family close as well.
Every person in the organization will miss Bill and his love for the game of baseball, the players, fans, and volunteers of the Cards, and the city of Yorkton. Bill will be missed dearly by all Cardinal volunteers and players, both current and former. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bills family and friends during this very difficult time.
