Terriers wrap up SJHL showcase with a 6-5 OT loss to the Flin Flon Bombers

The Yorkton Terriers got 3 out of a possible 4 points in the 2016 edition of the SJHL Showcase as they fell in overtime 6-5 to the Flin Flon Bombers at the Legends Arena in Warman.

Dondre Watson would get the Bombers on the board first 7:11 into the first as he go forehand then backend by Terriers' net minder Matt Vernon for his 6th of the season to make it a 1-0 Bombers lead while also leading the shot column 17-6 after 1 period.

In the 2nd early on, the Terriers would even things up as Cole Keenleyside would snipe home his 2nd to tie it up at 1-1. But just 14 seconds later, Brandon Lesko would regain the Bombers' 1 goal lead at 2-1. But once again the Terriers would answer as Tyler Baier would pinball one through traffic to make it a 2-2 game. The teams would exchange goals off the sticks of Nick Shumlanski (FF) and Kaleb Bell (YOR) to make it 3-3. Before the 2nd period buzzer could go, Watson would add his 2nd of the night and 7th of the season to make it a 4-3 Bombers' lead headed into the 2nd intermission.

Terriers captain Corwin Stevely would pull his team even once again at 11:04 mark of the 3rd on a nice feed from Jordan McCausland to make it 4-4. But yet again the boy from Flin Flon would answer back in a matter of seconds on the PP as Kristian St. Onge would get his 5th to make it 5-4. It would stay like that until 2:54 left in regulation when Tyler Baier would walk off the half wall and beat the Bombers' goalie over the left shoulder for his 2nd of the night and 3rd of the season to send the game into overtime tied at 5-5.

After not being able to convert on an early PP, the Bombers would get the winner from Dondre Watson, his hat trick goal at the 2:27 point of the 4th period to give the Bombers a 6-5 win over the Yorkton Terriers.

Dakota Delbridge started for the Bombers and made 12 saves on 17 shots for the W while making his Terrier debut Matt Vernon made 33 saves in a losing cause.
