The battle of Highway 10 continued as Yorkton traveled to Melville for a date with the Millionaires. The 233 fans at Pirie Field were not disappointed as Melville defeated Yorkton 10-4.
University of Nebraska sophomore Parker Smejkal homered for the third consecutive game. In that time frame the Yorkton third baseman has picked up six hits and four RBI meanwhile Melville’s Keaton Sullivan (pictured above) also went deep for the third consecutive game.
Millionaire starter Mason Furlong earned his second win of the season throwing seven complete innings. Furlong faced 29 batters surrendering four runs on five hits while fanning seven.
Local product Tyson Black made his second start of the young WMBL season. He gave up eight runs on six hits. He also struck out five Melville batters in the loss.
Melville is now 4-7 while Yorkton’s record dropped to 2-7.
The Mils will go right back at it on Tuesday host the Regina Red Sox at 7:05 from Pirie Field while the Cards have the day off before battling Swift Current at Jubilee Park on Wednesday.
Other result last night (Mon) had Swift Current double up Weyburn 10-5.
