Terriers & Millionaires (SJHL) looking for Athletic Therapists/Equipment Managers; Hollinger off to OHA

The Yorkton Terriers are pleased to announce that Nathan Hollinger (Grenfell, SK) the teams Athletic Therapist/Equipment Manager for the past two seasons has accepted a position as Athletic Therapist/Strength and Conditioning Coach with the Okanagan Hockey Academy (Penticton, BC) in the CSSHL.
Nathan was an integral part of the Terriers for 2015-17 season. He joined the organization in the fall of 2015 having recently graduated from the University of Regina with his bachelor of science with a specialization in athletic therapy.
The Yorkton Terriers are very pleased to have had Nathan as a member of our organization and wish to congratulate him and wish him the best of luck as he advances to a new stage of his career.
With Nathan advancing to a higher level, the search for a replacement will begin immediately.

The Yorkton Terriers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) are seeking an individual to serve as the teams Athletic Trainer/Equipment Manager commencing for the 2017-18 hockey season.
The successful applicant must be a team-oriented individual who is outgoing, organized and willing to work closely with the coaching and medical staff to serve the players needs.
The position requires strong organizational and communication skills with a positive attitude. The individual will also be required to travel with the team to all road games; travel expenses will be covered by the team.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Attend all games and practices
  • Management and repair of players equipment (sticks, gloves, pants, helmets, jerseys)
  • Game day setup of dressing room and team equipment
  •  Skate sharpening and daily laundry
  • Working closely with medical staff to attend to and assess player injuries, rehabilitation and documentation
  • Injury prevention and physical preparation guidelines
  • Communication of injuries to coaching staff and team doctors
  • Maintaining an inventory of both hockey and medical supplies within a budget

Interested applicants are asked to outline their qualifications. Certified Athletic Therapist or related program and previous hockey team experience would be an asset. The Melville Millionaires Jr. A Hockey Club is accepting applications for the position of Athletic Therapist/Equipment Manager for the 2017-2018 season.

The successful applicant must have excellent communication and organization skills and be able to work both independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities/ Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following :

 • Assist in the prevention, assessment and treatment of injuries
 • Responsible for giving players medical treatment they may need prior to, during or after practices/games
 • Provide medical coverage at all practice sessions and games, both home and away
 • Develop an Emergency Action Plan for any major injuries • Provide injury evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries
 • Develop a return to play plan for injured players
 • Coordinate treatment with physicians/medical personnel
 • Provide an injury report/update to the coaching staff daily
 • Maintain all medical records pertaining to treatment required
 • Coordinate medical insurance claims
 • Keep athletic therapist office organized, neat, and clean at all times
 • Keep locker room organized, neat, and clean at all times
 • Maintenance of team equipment: Sharpen skates, perform minor fixes, cleaning and laundry throughout the season
 • Keep an up to date inventory of all equipment
 • Participate in equipment budget development Qualifications:
 • First Aid and CPR • Certified Athletic Therapist (CATA or NATA – USA)
 • Criminal Record Check Application
