Mils sweep Sunday doubleheader at Pirie Field

Game 1:
Yorkton Cardinals 5 at Melville Millionaires 7
The Melville Millionaires won their second consecutive game by beating Yorkton 7-5 in game one of a double header.
Parker Smejkal, the sophomore from Nebraska Omaha, extended his hitting streak to six games with two hits. He also had a run and two RBI in the loss.
 
Melville first baseman Marshall McPherson had a great day at the plate in the Money Men’s eighth victory of the season. The native of Texarkana had three hits including his seventh homer, an RBI and a walk.  Mason Furlong added two hits for Melville.
 
Justin Johnson took the loss after pitching just four innings. His season record after pitching in 12 WMBL games this season is 1-4.
 
Amado Almanzar, the right hander form Ranger College, pitched five innings, giving up eight hits and five runs. The win evened his record at 1-1. Keaton Sullivan threw a perfect ninth inning for his first save of the season.
 
 
Game 2:
Yorkton Cardinals 0 at Melville Millionaires 3
With their 3-0 win over Yorkton the Melville Millionaires swept the two-game series against the Cards. It was also Melville’s third consecutive win. After the weekend, both Yorkton and Melville have identical 9-22 records.
Mason Furlong threw a seven inning complete came shutout. He allowed just two hits while striking out seven Cardinal batters.
 
Tyson Black also pitched a complete game. He took the loss after surrendering nine hits and three runs to the Millionaire hitters.   
 
Bryce Mulcahy and Hank Forrest had singles and were the only two Cardinal hitters to solve Furlong.
 
Shoma Sasaki, Keaton Sullivan and Jared Johnson each had two hits for Melville in their victory.
