The Waywayseecappo Wolverines Junior A Hockey Club announced today that Derek Wiest has been hired as the team's new Assistant Coach.
Wiest, 31, from Enchant, Alberta brings a wealth of coaching experience and successes to the new position with the Wolverines, having coached at the Midget level in Taber, and in junior as Head Coach of the Coaldale Copperheads.

“Derek is a great young coach with a lot of passion who's ready to take the next step in his coaching career.” said Arnie Caplan, Head Coach and General Manager of the Wolverines. He's ready and willing to work with our young talent and we're really happy to have him join the staff as the organization begins a new chapter with its branding and culture,” he added.
During Wiest's playing career, he spent time in the AJHL with the Olds Grizzlys and Calgary Canucks. Derek begins his position in early August.

Ray Walker comes with a wealth of experience in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, as a radio and television broadcaster with previous stops in Selkirk and Virden.
