Mils win; Cardinals lose in July 23rd WMBL Recap

Fort McMurray Giants 4 at Melville Millionaires 9

The Melville Millionaires ended their eight-game winless skid with a 9-4 win over the visiting Fort McMurray Giants.

The win was Melville’s 12th of the season. 
 
Millionaire starter Amado Almanzar picked up his second win of the year. The Ranger College product faced 27 batters over 5.2 innings in the victory.
 
Samuel Hersh was tagged with the Fort McMurray loss. He lasted five innings surrendering six runs. 
 
Max Hewitt had two hits in the Giants loss. It was a shared offensive effort for the Millionaires as six Melville hitters had two hits. 
 
The loss ended the Giants three game winning streak as they dropped to 16-16 in the Western Division standings.


Yorkton Cardinals 6 at Moose Jaw Miller Express 15
The Moose Jaw Miller Express continued their winning ways defeating the Yorkton Cardinals 15-6. Yorkton dropped their sixth game in a row. 
 
Mitchell Robinson started for Moose Jaw and gave way to the Express bullpen after five innings. Mitchell Price threw two innings to pick up his first win of 2017. 
 
Left hander DJ Depiero started for Yorkton and lasted just 2.1 innings, allowing five runs on six hits. Reliever Zackary Sharp, the senior from the University of Mary, was charged with the loss. 
 
The Cardinals Jackson Soto had three hits, a run and a RBI in the game. Parker Smejkal chipped in with two hits in the loss. 
 
Ty Schindel led the Moose Jaw attack with three hits, two runs and two RBI. In the bottom of the third Ben Dalke smacked a grand slam, it was his seventh homer of the season.
