Stampeders; Wolverines earn victories in their MJHL Showcase Openers in Winnipeg


The Swan Valley Stampeders earn their 4th victory of the season as they kicked off their 2019 MJHL Showcase on Monday with a 3-2 victory over the Dauphin Kings in Winnipeg. 

Trevor Schroder and Callum Fortin each scored their first MJHL goals for Swan Valley while Luke Beerman had the other for the Stamps. 

Michael Davis turned aside 36 of 38 shots to improve his record to 3-1 on the season.

Parker Fofonoff and Cole DeKonick replied for the Kings. 

The Stampeders look for their 4th straight win on Tuesday night at 5PM MB time when they finish off their Showcase taking on the Winnipeg Blues for their first meeting of the season.

Elsewhere, 

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines improved their season mark to 5-1 on the season after opening up in Winnipeg with a 6-3 victory over the Winnipeg Blues. 

Gerrik Ripley, Tyler Leibl and Noah Westgate led Waywayseecappo with 1G 1A while Matthew Swanson, Dylan Soosay and Conrad Phillips chipped in with the other markers. 

Mikol Sartor led the Blues with 2G in the loss. 

The Wolverines will take on the Selkirk Steelers in the Showcase finale at 6PM MB time on Tuesday evening.
