Tuesday Night Junior A Recap

Millionaires; Terriers both fall in their SJHL Showcase Openers in Warman 

The Melville Millionaires let a 2-1 lead slip away as Nipawin scored 4 unanswered to lead the Hawks to a 5-2 victory on Tuesday night.

Zach Cox scored twice for the Hawks while Carson Erhardt, Jake Tremblay,  and Jack Lenchyshyn chipped in with singles.

Jonathan Krahn and Jacob Bourchier replied for the Moneymen.

Rookie net-minder Kaleb McEachern turned aside 32 shots in the loss.

The Mils wrap up their Showcase on Wednesday at 2PM vs. the La Ronge Ice Wolves.

Elsewhere,

The Yorkton Terriers dropped their 4th straight game on Tuesday, losing 6-2 to the Melfort Mustangs in Warman.

Kenzie Arnold, Zach Anderson, Luc Marleau, Jake Hobson, Braydon Clayton and Ben Chase scored for the winning side while Chantz Petruic and Alec Zawatsky led the Terriers with 1G 1A each.

Phillipe Bond made his 5th straight and turned aside 32 shots in the loss.

The Terriers will face the Humboldt Broncos at 11AM on Wednesday morning to wrap up the event.

Wolverines capture their 3rd straight with win over Dauphin 

Thomson Phinney stopped 27 shots and Ryley Cardinal scored the game winner to lead the Waywayseecappo Wolverines to their 3rd straight win, a 4-2 decision over the Dauphin Kings.

Anthony Bilka, Matt Kasowski and Matthew Swanson also scored for the Wolverines.

Cole DeKonick and Avery Smith replied for the Kings.

The Wolverines will return to action on Thursday night when they visit the OCN Blizzard at 7PM MB time


Dodd plays hero as Stampeders edge Virden in overtime 

Frazer Dodd netted the OT winner just 3:43 into the extra frame to lead the Swan Valley Stampeders to a 5-4 victory over the Virden Oil Capitals.

Carter Cockburn, Josh Beauchemin, Mattias Dal Monte and Nathan Carl also scored for Swan who got Mikael Foucher made 33 saves for his 1st MJHL win.

Hunter Cloutier had 2 goals and 2 assists to lead the Oil Caps offensively.

The Stamps will return to action on Friday night when they take on the Wayway Wolverines on home ice.
