Grant shines as Stampeders capture 6th straight after home ice decision over Steinbach

 



The Swan Valley Stampeders won their 6th straight on Friday night after defeating the Steinbach Pistons 2-1 in the shootout.

Owen Harris opened the scoring in the late stages of the first period and it would stay like that until 45 seconds into the 3rd period when Langley Kruggel's point shot beat a screened Kobe Grant to tie it up 1-1.

After overtime solved nothing, the Stampeders got shootout goals from Myles Mason and Josh Danis, while Grant stopped 2 of 3 to secure the two points.

The Vernon, BC product also stopped 33 shots in regulation to earn his 24th win of the season, while Pistons G Dominik Wasik stopped 25 of 26 shots in the SOL.

The Stampeders go right back at it on Saturday night hosting Niverville, while the Pistons wrap up their roadie visiting the OCN Blizzard.

In the SJHL,

The Yorkton Terriers dropped their final home game of the season, falling 7-4 to the Humboldt Broncos.

Ben Kotylak, Maddox Amaral and Quinn Myles each scored twice for the Broncos while Ethan Zielke also scored.

JD Hall replied with two goal for the Terriers while Colton Koran and Karsten Kruska chipped in with singles.

The Terriers wrap up their 2022/23 campaign on Saturday night in Humboldt.
