Local Weekend Recap

For the first time in 10 years, the Theodore Buffalos are league champions.

Former Yorkton Terrier and Melville Millionaire Zach McIntyre scored the game winner with 5:03 left in the first overtime in Game 4 led the Buffalos to a 2-1 OT win over the Rocanville Tigers, to win the Best of 7 Sask East Hockey League Championship series 3 games to 1.

"It's been a long 10 years since our last league title that's for sure but to do it at home in front of our great fans & supporters just makes it that much more special", said Buffalos Coach Josh Garbutt.

Dylan Johnson and Ryan Regel exchanged goals in the 2nd period of a game that was highlighted by the play of Buffs netminder Warren Shymko and goaltender Dakota Berezowski of the Rocanville Tigers.

"Just great to see our mixture of older veteran players and the young guys we picked up this year kinda gel together as the season went on & goaltending too was a big part of the success, Garbutt added.

The Buffalos dropped the league final to the Tigers last year.
