Loeffler's 55 saves leads Fort Knox to a 2-1 win over Assiniboia

The Fort Knox were heavily outshout but they won their 3rd straight game on Sunday, 2-1 over the visiting Assiniboia Southern Rebels from the Fort Rexenter.

After a scoreless 1st period, the Rebels would get on the board first as 16 year old Tyde Hutchinson would bang home his 2nd goal of the season to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. But just under 4 minutes later, Knox captain Brandon Kayter would bank home his 12th of the season off the back of Rebels goalie Nolan Berner to tie things up at 1-1 after 2.

The game would stay tied until the 8:21 mark of the 3rd as Brett Turgeon would snap home his 17th goal of the season and that would stand as game winner as the Knox would notch their 15th win of the season to move within 5 points of the Rebels for 2nd place in the PJHL's South division.

Johnathan Loeffler was sensational in the Knox goal making 55 saves in the win while Nolan Bernermade 17 saves in the loss.

The Knox next action will be on Thursday night when they visit the Regina Silver Foxes at 7:30.

Over in the MJHL,

After winning 4 straight, the Swan Valley Stampeders have now dropped their last 2 games including a 6-3 decision to the Winnipeg Blues.

Josh Martin led the way with 2 goals while Zach Degraves made 22 saves in the loss.

The Stamps' head on the road for their next game on Tuesday night when they visit the Dauphin Kings. GX94 will broadcast the game with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey, pregame 6:50 pxp at 7:00.


Elsewhere in Portage, the Wayway Wolverines were 9-0 losers to the Portage Terriers.

Troy Martyniuk started and was pulled after allowing 2 goals on 3 shots while Greg Harney stopped 31 of 38 shots in relief.

The Wolverines return to the action on Wednesday when they visit the Portage Terriers.
