Severson's 60 save performance helps Terriers get point in Flin Flon

The Yorkton Terriers for the 3rd time this season went to the extra frame with Flin Flon but for the 3rd straight time they only got a single point as they lost to the Bombers on Tuesday, 6-5 in the shootout.

The Terriers got off to a quick start and they would strike first as Jordan Evans would get a breakaway shorthanded and would slip by Bomber goaltender Zac Robidoux for his 13th goal of the season to give the visitors an early 1-0 lead. The Bombers would reply on that initial power play as Joel Kocur would take a nice feed backdoor from Jason Lavallee and beat Jakob Severson for his team leading 23rd goal to tie things up at 1-1 in a controlled 1st period by the home team where the Terrier net minder was very solid as the Bombers led in the shot column after 1 period.

Brandon Sookro would get a power play goal of their own for the Terriers just 3:12 into the middle frame, his 17th to give the visitors a 2-1 lead. But the Bombers would once again answer back just a few minutes later as Kocur would grab his 2nd of the evening, and 24th of the year to even things up at 2-2. The Terriers though once again regain that lead at 1, as 17 year old Shane Sherban would snap one home for goal number 8 on the season to give Yorkton a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes. Shots 43-15 Bombers after 40 minutes of play.

In the 3rd, Brandon Switzer would even things up at 3-3 just over a minute in for the Bombers just over 7 minutes before Alex Smith's 18th goal of the season would give Flin Flon their first lead at 4-3. The teams would trade goals once again of the sticks of Corwin Steely (Yorkton) and Tyson Empey (Flin Flon) respectively to give the Bombers a 5-4 lead. But with just 38 seconds would help secure his team at least a point as he would take a nice feed from Tyler Baier and go top shelf on the Bomber net minder for his 12th goal to force OT.

In the OT, the Terriers would once again face some adversity in their 9th shorthanded situation but they were able once again kill that off and force a shootout.
