The Wayway Wolverines lost their 3rd straight game on Thursday night, dropping a 7-3 decision to the visiting Virden Oil Capitals at the Wayway Arena Complex.
It would be one of those periods to forget about for the Wolverines. The Wolverines would get the first 4 goals of the opening 12:51 of the 1st as Kyle Salaway, Dylan Thiessen, Mack Hardy and Ben Dalke to give the Oil Caps a 4-0 lead. The Wolverines would get on the board at 14:46 mark as former Oil Cap Cody Durdle's long shot would get through for his 7th goal of the season to make it 4-1. But Virden would get two late goals in the final 1:07 as Cole Oliver and Drake would score to help the Oil Caps to a 6-1 lead after 20 mins.
After a 7 goal 1st period, there was only one goal to talk about in the middle frame as Johl Swedlo would deflect home his 18th of the season to cut the Wolverines back within 4, as the Oil Caps continued to lead 6-2 after 2 periods. Shots 24-18 Virden.in
The teams would exchange goals in the 3rd as Tyler Ham would get the Wolverines' within 3 at 6-3. Ben Dalke would round up the scoring with his 2nd of the night and 18th of the season to give the Oil Caps their 26th win of the year, 7-3 over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.
Patrick Zubick made his 2nd straight start making 23 saves for the win while Greg Harney made the start for Wayway but was relieved after giving up 6 goals on 14 shots in the first. Troy Martyniuk came in and made 21 of 22 shots in the last 40 minutes.
