Shamray's 3 points leads Wolverines to 5-3 win over Dauphin

The Wayway Wolverines snapped a 4 game losing streak ad 5 game losing streak to Dauphin in the process as they beat the Kings 5-3 on Thursday night.

The Wolverines would get things going just 5:54 in as Captain Alex Keena would get his 11th goal of the season to give them an early 1-0 lead. But just a short time later, Keaton Leininger would notch home his 13th of the year going top shelf on Greg Harney to tie it up at 1-1. Then just over the half way mark of the opening frame Daniel Chartrand would knock home his 5th goal of his rookie season. Wayway would even it up at 2-2 just 2:13 later as Brett Opperman would sneak behind the D and go top shelf on his former Wolverine teammate Brandon Holtby for his 3rd of the season. But before the 1st period buzzer could go off Trevor Kavanaugh's point shot would get through Harney for his 6th to make it 3-2 Dauphin after 1 period.

In the 2nd it would only be Wayway who would strike as on the PP, Ty Enns would hammer home his 16th of the season to even it up once again this time at 3-3 after 40 minutes.

20 year old Johl Swedlo would get the eventually game winner just a short time into the 3rd, his 19th of the season to give Wayway a 4-3 lead. Then Riley Shamray (pictured above)  would get the Wolverines some insurance as his point shot would make its way through some traffic for his 5th of the season to help seal a 5-3 Wolverine victory, their 13th of the season.

Greg Harney wasn't all that busy but did make 18 saves on 21 shots for Wolverines to get his 9th win of the season. Brandon Holtby, the former Wayway netminder stopped 36 shots in his return to Waywayseecappo.

The Wolverines will play a couple home games this weekend on Saturday and Sunday with them both against the Winkler Flyers. Both games will start at 7:30.
