Terriers lose their first in overtime to Brooks

In a very entertaining hockey game between 2 very good teams, and despite the very good effort from the Yorkton Terriers the result wasn't what they wanted as they fell 2-1 in overtime to the Alberta Junior Hockey League champion Brooks Bandits.

The Bandits came out with a bang in the first period as they out shot and out played the Terriers and would come out with the lone goal of the first as RJ Reed would rip a wrist shot and go bar down on Dawson McAuley for his 3rd goal of the tournament to give the Bandits an early 1-0 lead.

The Teams would exchange chances both ways in the middle frame but as the period would go on , the Terriers would turn the tides on Brooks taking control of most of the middle frame but just couldn't get anything by Bandits goalie Michael Fredrik leaving Brooks with a 1 goal lead.

The third period would begin with the Terriers getting into some penalty trouble that would continue throughout the period but the Terriers would do a good job of penalty killing all afternoon long. Yorkton would then be credited for the strong effort Shorthanded with the tying goal with just under 5 minutes to go in regulation when Nathan Murray would pounce on a loose puck for his 1st to even it up at 1 after regulation time.

The overtime would bring chances to both sides, which included a goal by the Brooks Bandits disallowed because of an offside call. But would end on a scramble play when Shane Pilling would coral the loose puck and put it low glove on McAuley to give the Bandits a 2-1 OT victory.

Dawson McAuley was very good in the Terriers net stopping 40 of 42 shots while Bandits goalie Michael Fredrick made 33 saves for the win.
