Millionaires and Stampeders 2017/18 season's come to an end on Wednesday Night

The Melville Millionaires had their 2017/18 season come to an end on Wednesday as they fell 3-2 in overtime to the Weyburn Red Wings in Game 3 of their Best of 3 Wild-Card series.

After a scoreless first period, the Red Wings would strike late in the 2nd as Dexter Robinson would walk across the blue line and beat Colby Entz over the right shoulder for his 1st of the playoff to make it 1-0 after 40 minutes.

The Mils would draw even just 1:15 into the third as Issac Embree would drive hard to the net and deflect home his 1st to tie it at 1-1. But the Red Wings would quickly come back to regain their one goal lead as SJHL Co Rookie of the Year Cade Kowalski would go top-shelf 50 seconds later to make it 2-1 Red Wings. But once again the Mils would respond as with 5:18 to go in the 3rd it would Aidan Steinke beating Arik Weersink over the left should making it a 2-2 game and forcing overtime for the 2nd time in the series.

In the overtime, it would end just 5:46 in as Cade Kowalski would go fore-hand and then back hand over the right pad of Colby Entz to advance the Red Wings on to the SJHL's Final Eight against the Battlefords North Stars.

Red Wings netminder Arik Weersink was once again solid in net making 41 saves on 43 shots while Mils goalie Colby Entz turned aside 29 shots in the loss.
