Mils drop regular season home finale, 5-3 to Estevan on Wednesday night

(Eric Soar)

The Melville Millionaires had their point streak come to an end at 8 games on Wednesday night falling on home ice, 5-3 to the Estevan Bruins.

The Viterra division champion Bruins would strike first 9:48 into the 1st as Zach Goberis would snipe homed 33rd of the season to make it 1-0. The Bruins would add to their lead in the first as former Millionaire Jake Teasrowski would take a back-door feed from Hayden Guilderson and make no mistake for his 5th of the year making it a two goal lead for the visitors after 1 period.

The Mils would cut their deficit in half with the only goal in the 2nd short-handed as Dayton Heino's back-hand would sneak through Bruins' net minder Bo Didur for his 13th to make it a 2-1 Estevan after 40 minutes.

The Bruins would regain their 2 goal lead just 4:29 into the 3rd as they sniped home his 23rd of the season to make it 3-1. The Mils would not go away as first Logan Foster would jump on a loose puck and pot home his 8th of the season to make it 3-2 then 47 seconds later on the PP, Eric Soar's hard one-timer would beat Didur for his 3rd of the year to tie it up at 3-3. But just 24 seconds, the Bruins would get the game winner as Hayden Guilderson would send a shot in from the side boards that would kinda fool Brandon Wells going off his paddle and in to make it 4-3 then Zack Goberis would add some insurance with an empty netter in the final minute to earn the Bruins the two points.

Estevan goalie Bo Didur turned aside 22 of 25 shots to earn the victory while Brandon Wells made 32 saves in the losing cause.

The Mils and Bruins will wrap up their respective regular season on Friday night when they meet from Affinity Place in Estevan.

Melville will kick off their Best of 3 Wild-Card series on Sunday. Their opponent thought is still to be determined as if the Weyburn Red Wings beat Yorkton on Friday, the Mils will take on Weyburn. If the Red Wings lose, then the Mils will face off with the Notre Dame Hounds in the Wild-Card round.
