The Melville Millionaires won the 9th Highway 10 battle of the season and captured the Parks Cup in the process by beating the Yorkton Terriers 5-3 on Friday night.
The Terriers would get the only goal of the first as Chantz Petruic would sneak behind the Mils defence and get a long stretch pass from Matthew Jones and slip it five-hole on Brandon Wells for his 19th goal of the season to make it an one goal Terriers lead after 20 minutes. Shots were 9-8 Mils.
In the 2nd, the Mils would come out with 2 quick goals in the first 6:07 of the middle frame. Damian Bentz and Clayton Eisler would both add their team tying 20th goals of the season to give the Mils a 2-1 lead. The Mils would then strike on the power play for the 2nd time as Montana Streit (pictured above) would deflect home a Eric Soar point shot past Joe Marcouiller to make it 3-1. But with only 4:38 left in the 2nd, Austen Flaman would add his 5th goal to make it a one goal game after 2 periods.
Melville's power play would once again strike in the 3rd as Daniel Liberty's long point shot would beat the Terrier net minder for the Edmonton product's 4th to make it 4-2. But once again it would be Flaman cutting his deficit to one as he would capitalize on a big Brandon Wells rebound and pot home his 2nd of the night making it 4-3. But veteran Mils forward Tyler Millar would add some insurance late to give his team the two points.
Mils netminder Brandon Wells made 23 saves for the victory while Joe Marcouiller made 28 stops in the losing cause.
The two teams will meet for the final time this season on Saturday at 7:30 from the Farrell Agencies Arena.
