– The Swan Valley Stampeders are excited to announce the hiring of Ryan Bettesworth as their new assistant coach for the upcoming 2018/2019 season.

Bettesworth spent three years with the Parkland AAA Midget Rangers. He was called up to the Stampeders where he played in 10 games between 2003-2005 where he found the back of the net in two occasions.

Bettesworth spent the next 2 seasons with the The Swan Valley Stampeders Junior “A” Organization. During the 2005/2006 season he played in 61 games scoring 6 goals and added 9 assists. In 2006/2007 he played in 53 games where he scored 2 goals and added 11 assists. Bettesworth was then traded to the OCN Blizzard over the summer of 2007 and then moved to the Dauphin Kings at the trade deadline. Overall in his 20-year-old season split between the two clubs, he played a total of 63 games scoring 14 goals while adding 17 assists.

After his hockey career Bettesworth attended the Manitoba Emergency Services college in Brandon, Manitoba and then on to Lakeland College in Vermillion, Alberta. He then moved to Thompson where he spent the past 8 years with the Fire Emergency Services.

“Ryan knows what it takes to play at this level,” said Head Coach and General Manager Taurean White. “Being a former Stampeder player he will bring a great work ethic and we are extremely excited to have Ryan joining the Stampeders for our 20th season.”

The Swan Valley Stampeders would like to welcome Ryan and his wife Juanita to the Organization.
