Terriers; Millionaires both victorious in Saturday's Local Junior A Preseason Recap

The Yorkton Terriers got their first victory of the preseason on Saturday night in Swan River as they beat the Swan Valley Stampeders 5-4 at the Centennial Arena. 

Chantz Petruic (GWG), Quin Hobbs, Keenan Sperling, Ryan Ries and Cole Keenleyside scored the Terriers while Noah Basarab, Carter Cockburn, Jamie Valentino and Morgan Venne replied for the Stamps.

The Terriers’ next game will be their regular season opener on Friday night when they visit the Weyburn Red Wings at 7:30 from Crescent Point Place.

The Stampeders’ who still have 3 preseason games remaining, will next be in action on Tuesday night when they visit the OCN Blizzard at 7PM MB time. 


Other Terriers news:

The Yorkton Terriers acquired 19 year old D Ante Mustapic from the Nipawin Hawks in exchange for 18 year old F Austen Flaman.

Mustapic, who hails from Vancouver BC split last year with the Bonnyville Pontiacs and the SJHL champion Hawks and had 8 assists in 40 games.

Flaman, the Terriers first ever SJHL Draft pick (1st overall) had 6 goals, 9 assists for 15 points in 40 games with the Terriers last season.


Meanwhile in Ochapowace,

The Melville Millionaires wrapped up their preseason with a perfect 4-0 record as they defeated the Notre Dame Hounds 5-2 on Saturday.

Ryan Heino, Dayton Heino, Cory Schillo, Jaden Shewchuk and Eric Soar scored the Millionaires.

The Mils will kick off their 2018/19 SJHL season with a home and home series with the Estevan Bruins starting on Friday night at 7:30 from the Horizon Credit Union Center.
