Mils drop a 5-2 decision in fight filled game vs Flin Flon

The Melville Millionaires dropped the 2nd game of their 3 game in 3 nights road trip as they lost 5-2 to the Flin Flon Bombers on Saturday night.

The Mils started off very slow for the 2nd straight night as in the opening 2 minutes the opposition would get on the board as Alex Smith would capitalize on a Millionaire turnover and jam it last Trevor Martin for his 17th of the season to make it 1-0. But the Mils would come back with a goal of their own as Mark Zvonkovic long shot from the point would hit the back of the net for his 1st as a Millionaire on the PP to tie things up at 1-1 after 20 minutes.

In the 2nd, it would be the turning point of the game as the Bombers would get 3 goals in the first 7 minutes of the period off the sticks of Chris Rauckman, Dean Allison and Austin Calladine to push their lead to 4-1. The Mils would add one before the end of the 2nd, as Jaden Kreklewich would be Johnny on the spot and hammer home a rebound for his 1st SJHL goal to cut the deficit at 4-2. Then with 19 seconds remaining is where the action happened as a 5 man line brawl would break out that made both teams a little bit shorter for the 3rd.

In the 3rd, the Mils would get an early 5 minute powerplay as Landon Farrell was slammed dangerously into the end boards hard from behind but the Mils would not be able to capitalize on it and Rauckman would be able to ice it late with an empty netter his 35th of the season to give the Bombers 5-2 victory.

Because of the lineup the Mils will be a little bit short handed I'm assuming because of the line up and the loss of captain Allen Kilback in the 1st, as they head to Melfort to finish up the roady on Sarurday.
