Liskiewicz's 1st MJHL win helps Stampeders to a 3-2 win on the road over Selkirk

The Swan Valley Stampeders, powered by a 3 goal 1st period earned their third win of the season defeating the Selkirk Steelers on Friday night by a score of 3-2 at the Selkirk Recreational Complex.

The Stamps got off to a tremendously quick start as just 7 seconds in Connor Navrot (pictured above) would go top shelf on Hayden Dola for his 4th of the season to give Swan an early 1-0 lead. They would make it 2-0 lead just over the half way point of the opening frame as Jason Cohan made a nifty move around the Steelers goalie for his 1st of the season and 1st as a Stampeder. Then Trevar Mann would make it a 3 goal lead as he would finish off a nice feed in front from Josh Martin for his 2nd of the year to make it 3-0 Swan Valley after 20 minutes with shots being 11-10 Stamps.

In the 2nd, the Steelers would pick things up and would be the better team in the middle frame and would get on the board as Brady Castellano would jam it through the 5-hole of Owen Liskiewicz for his 2nd to make it a 2 goal game at 3-1 Stamps after 40 minutes. Selkirk outshot Swan 12-5 in the 2nd and led the Stamps in shots 22-16 after 2 periods.

Connor Barley would add one just past the midway point of the 3rd period, his 5th of the season as he deflected one past Liskewicz but thats as close as they would get as the Stamps would hold on for a 3-2 win in Selkirk

New Jersey product Owen Liskiewicz turned aside 34 of 36 shots for his 1st win in the MJHL for the Stamps while Steelers net minder Hayden Dola stopped 23 shots in the defeat.

The Stamps return to the ice on Wednesday night as they visit the OCN Blizzard while the Steelers host the Wayway Wolverines on Sunday afternoon at 2:30PM MB time.
