Stamps outshoot Kings heavily but fall on the road, 6-1 in Dauphin

The Swan Valley Stampeders were unable to win their 2nd straight on Wednesday night as they fell 6-1 to the Dauphin Kings from Credit Union Place.

In the first, the Stamps would get off to a quick start as they would strike first as Brian Harris would finish off a nice feed from Josh Martin for his 2nd of the season to give the visitors an early 1-0 lead. The Kings would answer back at the 9:13 mark of the opening frame as Daniel Chartrand would sneak one through Owen Liskiewicz for his 2nd to tie it up at 1-1. Just 2 minutes later, they would get their first lead as big Austin Douglas would take a nice feed in front and go top shelf for his 1st MJHL goal to make it 2-1. The Kings would add to their lead with 4:04 remaining as Keaton Leininger would capitalize on a rebound to give the home team a 3-1 lead after 20 mins with the Stamps leading in the shot column 17-8.

After the scoreless 2nd period, the Stamps would once again have chances to cut back into the Kings lead but just couldn't prevail and then the home team would add three more late in the 3rd off the sticks off Carson Romeril, Austin Douglas and Kyle Oleksiuk to give the Kings their 2nd win of the season, 6-1 over the Stampeders.

Brandon Holtby was the difference in the Kings' goal making 50 saves on 51 shots for his 2nd win of the season while Owen Liskewicz in his Stamps' debut made 22 saves in the losing cause.

The Stamps back in action on Friday when they host the top ranked Steinbach Pistons while the Kings also in action Friday in Portage against the Terriers.
