Stanley's hat trick leads Wayway to 1st win, a 6-3 decision over Dauphin on Tuesday night

The Wayway Wolverines are in the win column for the first time this season after they doubled up the Dauphin Kings 6-3 on Tuesday night from the Wayway Arena Complex.

The Wolverines would get on the board early on just 2:06 in as Brandon Stanley (pictured above) would take a nice feed in front from Landyn Cochrane and hammered home his 4th of the season to make it a 1-0 lead. It would stay like that until the 12:58 mark as Stanley would add his 2nd of the night & 5th of the season on a nice individual effort to give the home team a 2-0 lead after 1 period. Shots were 12-9 Dauphin.

The Kings would get on the board just 6:45 into the 2nd as Matthew Greening would bang home his 4th of the season to the cut the visitors deficit to 2-1. But just a short time later, Buchanan produt Korwin Shewchuk would capitalize on a Dauphin turnover and go top shelf on Tanner Douglas for his 4th of the campaign to regain Wayway's 2 goal lead at 3-1. Wolverines would grab their first 3 goal lead of the night just over 2 and a half minutes later as Landyn Cochrane would jam home a PP marker to make it 4-1. But Greening would respond with 2nd of the night finishing a nice passing play for his 5th to make it a 4-2 game. But Stanley would complete his hat-trick and regain the home teams 3 goal lead with 6th of the season to make it a 5-2 lead after 40 minutes.

Rhett Lough would make it 6-2 Wayway just 3:27 into the 3rd with his first of the campaign. Riese Gaber would wrap up the scoring for the Kings with his 1st of the season but it would be a little too late as Wolverines would hang on for a 6-3 win.

Edmonton product Hunter Lorenson made 30 saves on 33 shots for his 1st MJHL victory while Tanner Douglas made 26 saves in the Kings net to take the loss, his 5th on the season.

The Wolverines return to action on Friday night as they visit the Neepawa Natives while the Kings are also on the ice on Friday in Steinbach against the top-seeded Pistons.
