Sunday Night Local MJHL Recap

The Swan Valley Stampeders dropped to 2-7-0 on the season after a 4-2 home loss to the Virden Oil Capitals at the Centennial Arena in Swan River.

Connor Navrot and Josh Martin scored for the Stamps while Ben Dalke had 2 goals to lead the way for the visiting Oil Capitals.

Brett Evans made 21 stops for the Stamps in the loss while Riley McVeigh was impressive making 35 saves in the win.

The Stamps return to action on Thursday night when they embark on a 2 game road trip visiting the Winnipeg Blues. GX94 will broadcast the game with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey, pregame 6:50 pxp at 7PM from the MTS Iceplex. The Stamps will then head to Selkirk on Friday night, a game also on GX94.


Elsewhere in the MJHL

The Wayway Wolverines dropped their 9th straight game to start the season losing in the Manitoba capital losing 9-4 to the Winnipeg Blues.

James McIssac led the way offensively for the Blues with a big night compiling 4 goals, 3 assists for a 7 point night.

Tyler Ham and Layne Anderson led the way for the Wolverines with 1G 1A while Brandon Stanley and Jacob Bestul also scored for Waywayseecappo.

The Wolverines will look for that first win of the season on Tuesday night when they host the Dauphin Kings. Pregame 7:20, pxp at 7:30PM MB time with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey on GX94
