The Melville Millionaires wrapped up the 2018 portion of the schedule on Sunday afternoon with a 4-2 victory over the Yorkton Terriers at the Farrell Agencies Arena.
The Terriers and Mils would exchange chances in the first period on the powerplay but it would be the home side who would get the lone goal as Chantz Petruic would take a back-door feed on the PP from Colby Brandt and make no mistake for his 20th of the season to give Yorkton a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes. Shots favoured the Millionaires 16-8 after 1 period.
The Mils would even it up at 1-1 just 4:51 into the 2nd period as Luke Spadafora would find Josh Borynec (pictured above) back-door and he would put home his 8th of the season. Just a few minutes later, the Mils would strike once again as they would grab their first lead of the night as Daniel Liberty would finish off a nice passing play for his 8th to make it 2-1 and that's where we would sit after 40 minutes. Shots after 2 were 24-17 Melville.
In the 3rd, the road team would add to their lead as a nice tic-tac-toe passing would be finished off by Josh Borynec, his 9th of the year to make 3-1 Mils just 5:07 into the 3rd period. The Parkland County, Alberta product would complete his hat-trick just 2:58 later as he would take nice pass over from Damian Bentz and go in on a breakaway and would beat Ryan Ouellette with a nice snap shot to make it a 4-1 game. The Terriers would add a late powerplay goal from Cody Bruchkowski to make it a two goal game, but thats as close as they would get.
20 year old Colby Entz made 30 saves on 32 Terrier shots to earn his 8th victory of the season while Terriers net minder Ryan Ouellette turned aside 30 shots in the losing cause and had his record drop to 11-8-0-0 on the season.
The two teams will kick off the New Year on Tuesday afternoon for their 6th meeting of the season. GX94 will broadcast the game with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey, "Sask Milk" pregame show begins at 1:50, PXP kicks off at 2PM from the Horizon Credit Union Center.
