SWAN VALLEY STAMPEDERS

The Swan Valley Stampeders captured their only game of the weekend coming back to beat the Dauphin Kings 5-4 on Sunday night on the road.

The Stamps would get the only goal of the 1st period on the power play as a long point shot from Quintin Sudom would draw a big rebound in front and it would be Captain Jaden Townsend jumping on it and tucking it home for his 10th of the season to give Swan a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes. Shots were 13-11 Swan Valley.

Just 5:16 into the 2nd, the Kings would even it up as Byron Fobair would jam one home to make it 1-1. Just over 2 minutes later, the Kings would grab their first lead of the night as Avery Smith would defect home a Riley Shamray point shot to beat Merek Pipes to make it 2-1. But 3:04 later on the PP, Josh Tripp would walk out and wrister would beat Ethan Slobodzian over the left pad for his 21st of the season to even it back up at 2-2. The Kings would grab their one goal lead with just over a minute left when Carter Sawchuk's back-hander would sneak through pipes with his 9th of the year to make it 3-2 Dauphin after 2 periods.

The home team would grab their first two goal lead of the night just 7:31 into the 3rd on the PP as Wayde Johannesson would take a big rebound off the end boards and bang it past a sprawled out Stampeder goaltender to make it 4-2. But the Stampeders would once again come back with a late game comeback. First Brian Harris would cut the Stamps within one with his 6th goal of the season to make it 4-3 with just 2:52 left. Then it would be reigning MJHL Player of the Month Brad Goethals pulling the visitors even taking advantage of a Kings' turnover and putting home his 19th of the season and 5th goal in as many nights to make it 4-4.

After a back and forth start to overtime, it would be Swan Valley completing the comeback. After an intense forecheck, Quintin Sudom would walk out from behind the Kings' net and send it on net and it would be re-directed in by Campbell Balk (pictured above) through the five hole of Slobodzian to give the Stamps' the extra point.

Merek Pipes made 39 saves on 43 shots to earn the victory for Swan while Ethan Slobodzian had 24 saves in the loss.
