Melville Prairie Fire holding "Pack the Rink" Night on Wednesday vs. Regina Rebels

The Melville Prairie Fire (SFMAAAHL) are hoping for a nice crowd on Wednesday night when they hold their "Pack the Rink" Night when they host the Regina Rebels from the Horizon Credit Union Center.

Back in early November it was announced by the Saskatchewan Hockey Association that the Prairie Fire hockey club would be dropped from the Female Midget AAA League and sent back down to AA.

Prairie Fire President Kevin Kirkwood says the night is all about rallying up some support for the girls and the club.

"The decision that was made kinda drains you as a player, so we want to show that as a community we will show up and say hey girls we are going to fight this for you and cheer you on."

Kirkwood has been involved with the Prairie Fire organization for a number of years and he says they are a club that won't go down without a fight.

"We just got to make sure we are loud and proud & to make sure our voice is heard and we will fight this until the decision is overturned."

Kirkwood also adds the team has got some great support from former players & coaches, local politicians and first nation communities since the decision was made.

Puck drop will be at 7:30PM and admission to the game is free of charge if you bring in a small toy or non-perishable food item for the Melville Food Bank.
