Brandt's 4 point night leads Terriers to Highway 10 win over Melville

The Yorkton Terriers won the latest installment of the Highway 10 battle after their convincing 6-2 victory over the Melville Millionaires on Friday night.

The Terriers got off to a quick start as just 2:37 into the game Jared Legien would get the Terriers on the board re-directing home his 24th of the season to make it 1-0. Legien would make it 2-0 just under 7 minutes later sniping one past Berk Berkeliev. Chantz Petruic would add his 19th of the year late in the 1st frame to make it a 3 goal lead after 1 period.

The Mils would cut into their deficit just 2:25 into the second as John Elliot would take a nice feed in front from Damian Bentz and make no mistake for his 3rd goal of the season to make 3-1. But just over a minute later, the Terriers would respond as Colby Brandt (pictured above) would get his 9th banking home past Colby Entz who came in relief of Berkeliev late in the 1st. Brandt would add his second of the period short-handed just before the half-way point of the period to give the home team a 5-1. Then just before the second buzzer would go off, Luke Spadafora would put home his 7th that would make it a 5-2 Terrier advantage through 40 minutes.

In the third frame, the only goal would come short-handed with just over 2 minutes as with the goalie pulled and short-handed, Kishaun Gervais would flip it high and over the Mils defence and into the empty cage for his third to ice it for the Terriers.

Terriers' goalie Ben Laidlaw in his first start in 8 games, he made 26 saves to earn his 9th victory of the season while for the Mils, Berk Berkeliev allowed 3 goals on 13 shots before being relieved by Colby Entz who made 18 saves on 20 shots.

The two teams will go right back at tonight (Sat) at the Horizon Credit Union Center. Puck drop is at 7:30.
