Lahmon makes 36 saves in debut to lead Mils to road win in Melfort

The Melville Millionaires snapped their 8 game winless skid on Wednesday night defeating the Melfort Mustangs 4-3 at the Northern Lights Palace.

The home team would get on the board first as Alex Rondeau's long point shot would beat a screened Ethan Lahmon for his 5th of the season to give Melfort an early 1-0 lead.

It would stay like that until 15:32 mark of the 1st as Zach Bannister would send a shot on goal and the rebound would come out to Luke Spadafora who made no mistake for his 8th to tie things up.

The Calgary, AB product would give the Mils their first lead of the night as he would capitalize on a turnover by a Mustangs turnover and then slide it around Tanner Martin to make it 2-1 Melville after 1 period.

Melfort would even up the game at 2-2 just 3:13 into the middle frame when Ben Tkachuk would grab a loose puck after a Mils turnover right in the crease and slip it through the Melville net minder for his 3rd of the season.

But before the 2nd period buzzer would go off, the Moneymen would grab their one goal lead back when just a few seconds into their 2nd PP of the night Jonathan Krahn would pick up a rebound in the high-slot and beat Tanner Martin five-hole for his 6th of the year to make it a 3-2 Mils advantage after 40 minutes.

In the 3rd the home team would once again able to tie the game earlier on the period as Seth McCulloch's low angle would sneak in through Ethan Lahmon for his 1st SJHL goal.

But once again it would be the road team would respond but this time for goo as with just 5:45 left in regulation, Jaden Hewes would find the trailer-man Andrew Smiley and his snap shot would be stopped but Jack Verstraete would be there to snipe home the rebound for his 1st as a Millionaire to give the Mils the 2 points.

Newcomer Ethan Lahmon in his 1st SJHL start ended up getting his 1st SJHL victory after making 36 saves in the Mils' net while Mustangs goaltender Tanner Marting made 18 stops in the loss.

The win at the Palace was also the 1st victory by the Mils since December of 2013

The Mils will look to keep the momentum going on Friday night when they entertain the Notre Dame Hounds from the Horizon Credit Union Center with the puck drop at 7:30.
