Local Weekend Sports Recap

SJHL 

The Yorkton Terriers began a stretch of 9 straight road games this weekend collecting 3 of a possible 4 points. 

The Terriers got 1G 3A from Captain Chantz Petruic to lead them to a 7-6 win in the shootout over the Kindersley Klippers. 

Then on Saturday, the Terriers earned a point but fell in overtime to the 1st place Battlefords North Stars. 

Jordan Guiney and Chantz Petriuc scored the Terrier markers. 

The Terriers will return to the ice on Tuesday night when they visit the Nipawin Hawks. GX94 will broadcast the game with the pregame begins at 7:20 and the play by play kicks off at 7:30.


Meanwhile the Melville Millionaires dropped both of their games on the road.

Aidan Steinke and Dylan Thackeray had 1G 1A each but the Mils dropped a 5-2 decision on the road against the La Ronge Ice Wolves. 

Then on Saturday, Luke Spadafora (2G) and Zach Banniser (2A) each had 2 points each as the Moneymen fell 4-2 to the Nipawin Hawks. 

The Mils will return to action on Tuesday night when they entertain the Weyburn Red Wings at 7:30 from the Horizon Credit Union Center.


MJHL 

The Swan Valley Stampeders played a 3 games in 3 night stretch this past weekend earn 5 out of a possible 6 points. 

Friday, Mattias Dal Monte had 3G 1A to lead the Swan Valley Stampeders to a 7-4 victory over the Virden Oil Capitals. 

On Saturday, the Swan Valley Stampeders let a 4 goal lead slip away as they fell 6-5 in overtime to the Portage Terriers. 

Callum Fortin scored twice to lead the Stamps offensively. 

Meanwhile on Sunday, 

Tommy Cardinal scored with just 39 seconds left in overtime to lead the Stamps to a 2-1 victory over the Selkirk Steelers. 

Carter Cockburn also scored for the Stampeders who return to action on Wednesday night when they entertain the OCN Blizzard at the Centennial Arena.
