Terriers; Wolverines score victories on Friday night

SJHL 

The Yorkton Hyundai Terriers playing their first home game since Oct. 30th, would return to home ice on Teddy Bear Toss night to defeat the La Ronge Ice Wolves 3-2 in the shootout.

Keenan Taphorn and Alec Zawatsky scored 2nd period goals for the Terriers to give them the 2-0 lead after 2 before Jake Gudjonson and Nolan Doell replied with markers for the Ice Wolves to tie things up at 2-2 and send it to the extra time.

After the game wasn't decided in overtime, it would head to the shootout where the only goals came from Chantz Petruic and Alec Zawatsky to lead the home-side to the extra point.

Both goalies were solid in between the pipes with Terrier net minder Ryan Ouellette turning aside 36 of 38 shots in the win while Liam McGarva made 32 saves in the shootout loss.

The Terriers will return to action on Tuesday night when they host the Kindersley Klippers while the Ice Wolves continue their trip in Melville on Saturday.

MJHL 

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines put a halt to their 2 game losing streak on Friday night defeating the Virden Oil Capitals 3-2 on the road.

Matt Kasowski, Gerrick Ripley, and Kris Bladen scored for the Wolverines while Liam Tereposky made 35 saves in the win.

The Wolverines will return to action on Tuesday night when they host the Portage Terriers.
