Jan. 26th Local Junior A Recap

The Melville Millionaires wrapped up their weekend road-trip with a 7-4 loss to the Kindersley Klippers on Sunday night.

The Klippers struck first on the 1st period as Ethan Mack would walk across the Mils blue-line and beat Berk Berkeliev for his 1st SJHL goal to make it 1-0, 11:05 in.

20 year old Devon Cyr would help the home teams cause as he added his 8th and 9th goal of the season just 1:49 apart to make it a three goal Klippers' lead after 20 minutes.

Shots after 1 were 18-9 in favour of Kindersley.

Tyler Traptow would add to the home-sides lead early in the 2nd as he would add a couple goals just 4:55 in to make it 5-0.

The Klippers added 2 more from Liam Fraser and the Hat-Trick goal from Devon Cyr before the Mils' got on the board with a short-handed goal from Christian Adlys, his 1st SJHL goal that made it a 7-1 Melville deficit after 40 minutes.

After 2 periods of play the shots were 36-13 Klippers.

The Mils would mount a little bit of a comeback as Jonathan Krahn, Payton Jerome and Luke Nkwama all scored but thats as close as they would get.

Berk Berkeliev got the start for the Mils and allowed 3 goals on 18 shots before being relieved by Kaleb McEachern who made 28 saves on 32 shots.

Steven Bacovsky made 19 stops to net the win in the Klippers goal.

The Mils' next action will be on Saturday night when they visit the Notre Dame Hounds at the Duncan McNeil Arena with puck-drop happening at 7PM.

MJHL 

The Swan Valley Stampeders' dropped 3-2 home decision to the Steinbach Pistons on Sunday.

Trevor Schroder and Josh Maucieri scored for the Stamps while Mikael Foucher made 29 stops in the loss.

The Stampeders' will return to action on Wednesday night when they host the Dauphin Kings at the Centennial Arena.

Elsewhere,

Conrad Phillips scored twice to lead the Waywayseecappo Wolverines to a 4-2 victory over the Selkirk Steelers.

Cody Thompson and Brody Moffatt also scored while Colin Ahern made 22 stops in the win.

The Wolverines return to the ice on Tuesday night when they visit the OCN Blizzard.
