Terriers blank Millionaires at home on New Year's Day

The Yorkton Hyundai Terriers captured the first Highway 10 battle of 2020 on Wednesday afternoon after shutting out the Melville Millionaires 4-0 on New Year's Day.

For the 2nd straight match-up, the home team would strike first as a long shot from the line from Ryan Granville would get stopped but Ethan Robson banged home the rebound for his 6th goal of the season to make it 1-0 Terrier just 7:50 in.

The Terriers would add to their lead just 1:20 later as Chantz Petruic would add his 45th of the season to make it 2-0 Yorkton after 20 minutes.

Petruic would get the only goal of the 2nd period as he one-timed a nice feed from Alec Zawatsky past Berk Berkeliev with 93 seconds to go in the middle frame for his 2nd of the night to make it 3-0 after 2 periods.

Yorkton would wrap up scoring in the 3rd as Keenan Taphorn one-timed one short-side by Berk Berkeliev for his 5th of the season with 4:54 remaining in regulation time.

Terrier netminder Ryan Ouellette made 30 stops to record his 2nd shutout of the season while Mils G Berk Berkeliev turned aside 41 of 45 shots in the loss.

The Terriers will look for back to back victories when they kick off a home and home series with the Humboldt Broncos on Friday night at the Farrell Agencies Arena while the Millionaires will look to rebound when they visit the Estevan Bruins on Saturday night at Affinity Place.
