STAMPS' BIG 2ND PERIOD LEADS THEM TO HOME VICTORY OVER WAYWAYSEECAPPO
The Swan Valley Stampeders grabbed their first win of 2020 after a 8-3 victory over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines at the Centennial Arena.
The Wolverines would strike first on the PP just 8:06 into the 1st when a side-angle shot from Brody Moffatt would go off of Anthony Bilka and into the back of the net for his 11th of the year to make it 1-0.
The Stampeders responded just over 6 minutes later as Luke Beerman got a loose puck in front and whistled it back Liam Terposky for his 13th to even it at 1-1.
Just 2:12 later, Parker Johnson notched home his 7th of the campaign slipping through Tereposky to help the Stamps grab their first lead at 2-1.
But the Wolverines would tie it up at 2-2 with 23 seconds left in the 1st as Gerrik Ripley's long point shot beat a screened Mikael Foucher for his 8th of the year.
Shots after 1 were tied at 10-10.
The Stampeders would regain their one goal lead just 84 seconds in the middle frame as Parker Johnson banged home his 2nd of the night to make it 3-2 then 3:54 later, Josh Maucieri finished off a nice passing play on the power play for his 5th of the season to make it a two goal game.
The Wolverines would get one back as Jaymes Knee dump-in and as Mikael Foucher went out to play the puck and it went off on a stanchion and right out in the slot to Rayman Bassi who chipped into the empty-net to cut their deficit to one, at 4-3.
Swan Valley would respond though with two quick goals before the 2nd period buzzer would go off as Callum Fortin and Nathan Carl made it a 6-3 lead on the Wolverines after 40 minutes.
Wayway led the shot column 31-22 after 2 periods.
The Stampeders added two more goals in the final frame from Trevor Schroder and Tommy Cardinals to wrap up the scoring.
Mikael Foucher turned aside 41 of 44 shots to earn his 15th victory of the season while Liam Tereposky and Ethan Lahmon split duties in the Wolverine night with Tereposky making 15 saves on 20 shots while Lahmon allowed 3 goals on 10 shots in the 2nd.
The Stampeders will return to action when they visit the Virden Oil Capitals on Thursday night. GX94 will broadcast the game with the pregame show kicking off at 7:20 and the play by play starting at 7:30PM from Tundra Oil & Gas Place.
Waywayseecappo's next game will be on Saturday night when they entertain the Winnipeg Blues at the Wayway Arena Complex.

The Yorkton Hyundai Terriers lost their 2nd straight on Tuesday night as they fell 9-1 to the visiting Estevan Bruins at the Farrell Agencies Arena.
The Bruins' used 9 different goal scorers in the win while Keenan Rancier made 26 saves in the win.
Kaeden Taphorn's 11th of the season was the only goal for the Terriers while Phillipe Bond (11 saves on 17 shots) and Kael DePape (24 saves on 27 shots) split goaltending duties for the Terriers.
The Terriers will return to action on Thursday night when they visit the Weyburn Red Wings at Crescent Point Place.
Elsewhere,
The Melville Millionaires dropped their 3rd straight on Tuesday, falling 3-0 to the Weyburn Red Wings on the road.
Dace Prymak, Shayde Peterson and Nolan Dobson scored for the Wings while Joseph Young made 23 saves to earn his 3rd shutout of the season.
