Terriers push Mils to the Brink with a 3-2 victory in Game 5

Advantage goes to the Yorkton Terriers in the Sherwood Conference Final as they defeated the Melville Millionaires 3-2 in Game 5 to go up 3-2 in the series in front of just under 2100 fans at the FAA on Friday night,

The Mils started off hot scoring just 55 seconds into the opening frame as Russell Trudeau would rip his 6th goal of the playoffs past Dawson McAuley to give the Mils a 1-0 after 1 period.

They would get another quick goal as Lucas Froese would rip a slapshot that found the back of the net just 44 seconds in this time to make it 2-0 for the visitors. But the Terriers would respond just under 4 minutes later as Brady Norrish's backhand would beat Alex Wakaluk to make it 2-1. The Terriers would even it up at 2 with just 2:14 left in the middle frame as Kailum Gervais wraparound would get past the Mils goalie and it would be tied at 2 after 40 minutes of play.

Yorkton would get their first and final lead of the game as Tayler Thompson would rip a wrist shot top shelf 4:12 into the 3rd period to give the Terriers who were the better team and deserved the victory a 3-2 Game 5 victory.

Dawson McAuley stopped 18 of 20 shots for the win while Alex Wakaluk stopped 32 of 35 shots and was tagged with the loss.

Expect a big crowd as well on Saturday as the Terriers will try wrap it up and book their ticket into the Canalta Cup Final, while for the Mils they will try and do what they did in their opening round series against Notre Dame and thats force a Game 7 of the series. If you want to attend Game 6 tickets will be available starting at 12 noon on Saturday at the HCUC all the way until game time.

  1. I am not being a poor loser but when will the REFS ever be on our side. For years they have always favored Yorkton.they must pay them better or something. Tonight they missed quite a few penalties the Terriers should have got. Well on to game 6 tomorrow.

    1. What?????? 3 power plays for Mils and 1 for the Terriers and a bogus interference in the dying minutes of the 3rd and you say the refs favored Yorkton. They missed calls both ways.
