The Yorkton Terriers won the 9th Highway 10 battle of the season on Friday night defeating the Melville Millionaires 4-1 at the Farrell Agencies Arena.
The Terriers would strike first just 5:58 in as Jared Legien would take a feed in front and hammer home his 28th goal of the season to give the home team a 1-0 lead. The Mils would draw back even at 9:26 of the opening frame on the power play as Mathieu Jallabert would jam home his 8th of the year to make it a 1-1 game after 1 period. Shots deadlocked at 10-10.
The score would stay deadlock until 5:43 remaining in the 2nd as Shane Sherban (pictured above right) would take a nice feed from Jared Legien (pictured above left) and go top shelf for his 9th of the season to make it 2-1. They would add to their lead just under 2 minutes later as on the powerplay Jordan Ross would bank home his 15th to make it a 3-1 Terrier lead after 40 minutes with shots at 23-19 for the home-side.
The Mils would outshoot the Terriers 14-6 in the 3rd but they wouldn't be able to beat Nathan Hargrave who made a number of big stops. Jared Legien would add his 2nd of the night & 29th of the season into the empty net to cap the Terriers' 3 goal victory.
20 year old Nathan Hargrave made 32 saves for the win in the Terriers' goal while Colby Entz made 27 saves in the loss.
With the win the Terriers now sit in 7th place in the SJHL standings with 59 points, 1 point back of the Notre Dame Hounds & Humboldt Broncos who are in the tie for 5th. The Mils' still remain 1 point back of Melfort for the final playoff spot after the Mustangs also lost on Friday night to the Nipawin Hawks.
The Terriers and Millionaires meet for their 10th and final meeting of the season on Saturday night at 7:30 from the Horizon Credit Union Center.

In the MJHL,
In the chase for the MJHL's final playoff spot, the Swan Valley Stampeders and Neepawa Natives both won on Friday night.
The Stampeders got 2 goals from Tanner Koroscil (pictured above) & 39 saves from Brett Evans en route to a 4-3 win over the Wayway Wolverines.
Noah Basarab and Jason Cohan also scored for the Stampeders while Korwin Shewchuk, Cody Durdle and Landyn Cochrane replied for the Wolverines.
The Neepawa Natives beat the Dauphin Kings 6-4.
So Swan Valley will visit the Neepawa Natives on Sunday night at 6:30, with the winner clinching the 8th and the final spot in the MJHL standings.
The Wolverines will wrap up their season Sunday night when they host the Portage Terriers for a matinee at 3:30.
