Terriers begin road trip falling on the road in Humboldt

The Yorkton Terriers began their 3 game in 3 night road trip on the wrong foot last night (Thurs) losing 6-0 to the Humboldt Broncos at the Elgar Peterson Arena.

The Broncos would strike first just 4:06 into the 1st period as Humboldt product Reagan Poncelet would deflect home a point shot from Ryan Straschnitzki past goaltender Nolan Maier for his 1st SJHL goal to give the home side a early 1-0 lead. Then just 1:18 later, the Broncos would strike again as Logan Schatz would step across the Terrier blue-line and go top shelf for his team leading 7th of the season to make it 2-0 Humboldt after 1 period. Shots 10-6 Yorkton.

Logan Schatz would add to the Bronco lead just 6:09 into the 2nd as he took a nice feed in front from Kaleb Dahlgren and put it over the left shoulder of the Terriers net minder for his 2nd of the night to make it 3-0. The Broncos would add a couple more before the 2nd period buzzer went as Logan  Hunter would get his 5th and 6th goals of the year to make it 5-0 Broncos after 40 minutes of play.

The Broncos would strike one more time in the final minute of the 3rd period as Connor Lukan would bang home the 2nd Humboldt PP goal of the night for his 2nd of the year to make it a 6 goal Bronco win.

19 year old Sam-Jaxon Visscher made 22 saves on the night for his first shutout of the season while Terrier netminder Nolan Maier made 42 saves on 48 shots in the loss.

The Terriers continue their road trip tonight (Fri) when they start first of 2 games against the Battlefords North Stars at the Civic Center.
