Local MJHL/SJHL Weekend Recap

SUNDAY

The Swan Valley Stampeders got a point but fell in their weekend finale on Sunday, 5-4 in overtime to the Winkler Flyers.

Will Blake had the OT winner for the Flyers while Weiland Parrish, Griffin Leonard and Garrett Kuklica also scored.

Keaton Jameson, Noah Basarab, Matt Osadick, and Jaden Townsend replied for Swan Valley.

The Stamps will the point still remain 3 points up on Neepawa for the 8th and final playoff spot in the MJHL standings and they have 2 games in hand.

Swan will finish off their regular season with a busy stretch of 4 games in 6 days starting on Wednesday night when they visit the OCN Blizzard at 7PM.

Elsewhere,

The Wayway Wolverines fell on home ice, 6-0 to the Portage Terriers.


SATURDAY

SJHL

Cory Schillo got the OT winner just 33 seconds into the extra period as the Melville Millionaires beat the Weyburn Red Wings 3-2 at Crescent Point Place. 

Shane Sherban and Clayton Eisler also scored for the Mils while Jordan Kazmyra & Tyran Brown replied for the Red Wings. 

Colby Entz made 34 saves in net for the Mils who will be back in action on Wednesday night when they host the Flin Flon Bombers at the Horizon Credit Union Center. 

Meanwhile in Kindersley, 

The Yorkton Terriers fell for the 2nd straight night to the Klippers, this time by a 6-3 score. 

Curtis Peck had a goal and 2 assists to lead the way for the Klippers while Cole Keenleyside, Josh Dobberthien and Drew Coughlin replied for the Terriers. 

Yorkton's next game will be on Tuesday night when they host the Flin Flon Bombers. GX94 will broadcast the game with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey, pregame 7:20 pxp at 7:30 from the Farrell Agencies Arena. 

MJHL

The Swan Valley Stampeders dropped the 2nd game of their weekend road trip in the Manitoba capital falling 4-3 to the hometown Winnipeg Blues. 

The Stamps had a 3-2 lead after 2 periods on goals by Josh Tripp, Keaton Jameson and Quinton Sudom by two third period goals by Nick Cicek to give the Blue the extra two points

FRIDAY 

SJHL

The Yorkton Terriers fall on the road to start their road trip, 7-0 to the Kindersley Klippers.

Austin Nault scored twice for the Klippers while 5 others provided singles.



MJHL

The Swan Valley Stampeders also dropped their first game of their 3 game weekend road trip, 7-3 to the Steinbach Pistons.

Daniel Chartrand led the way for the Stamps with 2 goals while Quentin Sudom had the other.

Daniel McKitrick had 2 goals to lead the way for the first place Pistons.

Elsewhere in MJHL,

The Wayway Wolverines got their 8th win of the season on Friday, beating the OCN Blizzard 4-3 on home ice.

Caleb Paisley, Morgan Poirier, Drew Anderson and Jesse Kortyko scored for the Wolverines while Issac Labelle turned aside 26 shots in the win.
