Saturday Night's SJHL/MJHL Recap



The Yorkton Terriers captured the first Parks Cup Highway 10 battle of the season by beating the Melville Millionaires 5-2 on Saturday night in Yorkton.

Colby Brandt (pictured above) led the way for the Terriers with 1G 2A while Chantz Petruic, Brendan Mark, Jared Legien and Cole Keenleyside also scored for Yorkton.

Montana Streit and Shane Sherban replied for the Mils.

Ben Laidlaw made 35 saves for the Terriers in the win while Colby Entz turned aside 29 shots in the loss.

The Terriers' next gane will be on Friday night when they visit the Kindersley Klippers while the Moneymen will next be in action on Wednesday when they entertain the Weyburn Red Wings.

In the MJHL,

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines earned a point but suffered their first loss of 2018/19 season losing  2-1 in overtime to the Virden Oil Capitals.

Jack Einarson scored the OT winner for the Oil Caps while Hunter Cloutier had the other.

Trygve Many Guns had the lone goal for the Wolverines.

Wayway's next game will be on Sunday night at 6PM when they host the Selkirk Steelers.


Elsewhere,

The Swan Valley Stampeders had their record drop to 5-2-1-0 on the season after a 5-2 road loss to the Steinbach Pistons on Saturday night.

Brendan Martin had a goal and 2 assist to lead the way for the Pistons in the win.

Josh Maucieri and Matt Osadick replied with goals for the Stampeders.

The Stampeders' next game will be on Saturday night when they host the Neepawa Natives at the Centennial Arena in Swan River.
